Our Story
ImagineX Africa was founded on a simple belief: the continent doesn't have a shortage of talent — it has a shortage of spaces where that talent is challenged, sharpened, and connected.
We started with a question — what would it look like if entrepreneurs and leaders across Africa and the diaspora had one place to come together, get honest about their mindset, and leave equipped to build differently?
That question became ImagineX Africa — a movement now expanding from online gatherings into in-person experiences in cities across the continent.
Our Mission
One million people isn't a slogan — it's a scale of transformation big enough to shift a continent. Every online gathering, every in-person event, every story we tell is a step toward that number. We're not measuring success by how many people attend one event. We're measuring it by how many minds have genuinely shifted, how many businesses have been built with intention, and how many leaders are equipped to take Africa's next generation further than the last.
We believe transformation starts on the inside. Before strategy, before capital, before scale — there's a mindset shift that has to happen first. So our mission isn't just to reach one million people. It's to raise them — to walk with them from where they are to who they're capable of becoming, city by city, country by country, until the number is real.
That's why we start small and prove the model with our own events before we scale it. It's why we're building city by city instead of everywhere at once. Every part of how we work is built to compound toward this one goal.
MEET THE FOUNDER
David Irambona
David Irambona is the founder of ImagineX Africa and leads the movement from South Australia, working closely with a team on the ground in Nigeria and Tanzania to bring the vision to life across the continent.
David founded ImagineX Africa out of a conviction that Africa's greatest untapped resource isn't capital or infrastructure — it's mindset. He built the movement to create spaces where entrepreneurs and leaders across Africa and the diaspora can challenge how they think, connect with others building at the same level, and walk away equipped to lead differently.
Under his direction, ImagineX Africa has grown from a single online gathering into a movement with plans to scale city by city across major African countries — proving the model first, then building the infrastructure to take it further. David is also the founder of the Makao Group, the umbrella under which ImagineX Africa operates.
He is currently driving the movement toward its defining goal: raising one million leaders and entrepreneurs across Africa by 2040.
